If you are not using online network marketing to build your business then you are leaving most of your profit on the table. With the growth of the internet you simply cannot afford to market your business without it.
You may already know this. But what you may not know is how to go about it.
One of the keys to any kind of marketing – online or off – is knowing what your message is. Successful online network marketing is not as simple as broadcasting a general message of success in bold letters. Fortunately for you that is what many people do. They simply take a message that does not work in the offline world and plaster it all over the web.
It won’t work there either.
In the offline world you may try to approach a stranger with a message of… “This is the best opportunity” or “These are the best products” or “This is a ground floor opportunity”. Your actual words may be different. But a lot of what prospecting involves centers around claims like these.
But it doesn’t work very well does it? It might if two things were true…
- People were looking for the best opportunity or products and…
- They believed you.
But people are not looking for your opportunity and products. There are thousands of other products and opportunities. They all look pretty much the same to your prospects. Not only that, but your prospects don’t believe you anyway. Why should they. They don’t know you. They only know that you want them to do something that benefits you.
Whether this message is offline or online doesn’t matter. People don’t want it. They are looking for something quite different. The key is to know what they are looking for.
How to Define an Online Network Marketing Message That Attracts Prospects
Successful online network marketing is a matter of defining a message that addresses what people are already looking for. It must answer the fundamental question everyone is asking. That is…
“How does this benefit me?”
It is the foundational question your prospects are asking.
But this one question flows from thousands of other particular questions. Find one or two of these particular questions that you can answer well and you will be successful at marketing.
For example: when someone asks the question, “How does this benefit me?” they are really asking a question like…
- “How can following this advice make me successful?” Or…
- “How does doing this particular thing grow my business?” Or…
- “What 3 things can I do to resolve this problem?” Or…
- “How does buying this product make my life better in this particular area where I struggle?”
Let’s suppose you want to buy a house. What kind of realtor do you want to hire? One who says, “I am the best realtor in town?” Or one who has written a series of articles answering some of your questions concerning home buying?
The first realtor made a claim. The second realtor invested in you by answering some of your basic questions.
Successful online network marketing is like the second realtor. It is about how you begin to answer people’s basic questions about a particular problem before you have a business relationship. It involves investing in people who are already searching for the solutions to certain problems.
These problems – and solutions – do not need to be business related. You can also answer people’s basic questions about anything that might relate to your products. However your message does not need to be…
My product will fix your problems.
That is a sales pitch. Instead provide solutions about how people can make their lives better. Part of that solution may involve a product like the one you sell. But the focus of your message is helping people solve particular problems. Giving instead of taking.
So ask yourself this question… “What do I know – or am willing to learn – that can solve a problem others are trying to solve?”
That is your message.
